The First CHS Walk-Out/Sit-In (1968)

April 1968 They killed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The 1968 CHS Senior Class asked for a meeting with the Board of Edudation & Central Administration. We let them know what our concerns were and it was time for a change. We were called a pack of monkeys by the President of the Board of Education. We threw our History Books on the stage - We organized a Sit-In along with the help of teachers and parents until we got an apology from the President of the Board of Education. We just wanted to learn about the the contribution made by Black People and other minorities.
